FULL MEDIA RELEASE:
“Will you offer a Saturday training in Tyler, because we are too busy serving our clients, during the week?” asked a local nonprofit leader calling A Circle of Ten, Inc.-Network for Collaboration.  C10 listened and partnered with ETCOG’s Area Agency on Aging  to address the training needs across the Region.  This resulted half-day “Grant Writing as a Process” Trainings set in Tyler and Henderson.

On Saturday, November 3, the Christian Men’s Job Corps of Tyler is hosting the half-day training 8:30-Noon, at Green Acres Outreach Center, 200 N. Beckham Ave.  On Thursday, December 6, the training will be repeated in Henderson. “Grant Writing as a Process” trainees participate in group exercises and study community organizing, program development and grant writing basics.  Comments from last year’s Trainings, include: The assurance that writing a grant is not outside my scope!”, “How the panel and group share in a small class environment isso efficient.”  and “Stimulated my thinking about the grant writing process!”

C10’s Kathy Holdway, Pam Anderson and an Alumni Panel guide the class as they study problems facing the community and how they might be addressed.  “Getting leaders to brainstorm helps identify ‘problems and solutions’ they have in common. This is how we teach the process of grant writing and C10’s seven regional and statewide Initiatives stemmed out of this process” stated Kathy Holdway, C10 founder.  Participants will leave the half-day training with additional skills and a better understanding of grant writing as a process.  Since 1996, A Circle of Ten, Inc. has served as a “catalyst and neutral intermediary agency building the capacity of leaders and communities, while multiplying services and funding in Texas”.  C10’s seven collaborative Initiatives address health/human services, adult education, workforce, housing, art, technology and entrepreneurism.  C10’s last human services collaborative grant brought $460,000 in subgrants to 15 East Texas nonprofits.  C10’s current contract with Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities builds on these efforts.  Alumni from C10’s 3-Day seminars make up the “Program and Grant Teams’ and benefit from the initiatives’ collaborative grants. Nonprofits and leaders interested in participating in the initiatives can pre-register for C10’s 3-Day award-winning seminar set December 11, 12 & 13 near Edom, TX. Southside Bank is sponsoring the upcoming training lowering the fee to $50 with discounts for multiple registrations.   Contact C10 for info or to register at www.virtual-village.org, 903-541-0013 or circleof10@circleof10.org
